In 2017 Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it topped the charts for most streamed songs during the course of six months. The combination of reggaeton and pop music has not only brought interest back to this genre but it also brought attention to Latin music in general. Billboard's Top 100 featured two songs that were Spanish predominantly, as well as four in 2016. The popularity of Despacito peaked in the year 2017. In 2020 the year 2020, 41 mainly Spanish songs will make the Top 100. Justin Bieber remixed Despacito 2017 as a bilingual rendition. Then, various artists collaborated with reggaeton superstars including Drake and Bad Bunny with MIA (2018), Madonna and Maluma and Medellin 2019. Some reggaeton artists have criticized the shift to mainstream music in the year 2020. However, a brand new group, Rauw Alejandro was determined to keep the development and growth of reggaeton. Rauw Alejandro incorporated elements of other genres and electronic music.
